Most of us agreed that the content of this book was closely related to our teaching experiences. The best part of this book, that was exactly what we needed, was the undeniable fact that it combines theory with exercise.

RCEF awarded grant by Kowk Non-profit Trust

RCEF has received a two-year give from the Kwok Charitable Trust to get a program focused on capacity-building for rural educators in China. Grant money will be used to deliver capacity-building providers to rural educators and rural education organizations that are carefully selected for their potential to advance the field associated with quality education service delivery pertaining to disadvantaged rural children and youngsters in China.

RCEF invited to share experiences at “Teach for China” conference

RCEF was asked to present our work to the guys of Teach for China, a business that recruits college graduates to show for two years in under-resourced Chinese language schools. Teach for China wished RCEF to share how we work with nearby village teachers and the kind of innovative teaching that comes out of these relationships. We showed videos of some of the creative projects RCEF teachers have got facillitated with elementary school kids. Ms.

Theatre and Drama Camp in Sichuan Province

In July, RCEF arranged a summer camp in Cha Ba Township, Sichuan Province. The camping served primary school students who RCEF Rural Education Innovators work together with on reading curriculum throughout the college year. For the summer camp, RCEF invited facilitators from Hua Dan to lead theater and drama course, and share their experiences with RCEF Rural Education Innovators.

Village Architecture Camp

During winter break, three outstanding RCEF Rural Training Innovators (REIs): Ms. Sun Huimiao, Ms. Sun Huiguo and Microsoft. Yao Caimei designed, organized, and led a five day “ Winter Camp” at The Community Training Centre in Houjiazhuang Village, Yongji County, Shanxi Province targeted toward Primary School students in Quality 4 to Grade 6.

Teaching Research Group Meets at Xiaochao Elementary School

On October 24, 2013, RCEF Rural Education Innovator Yanzhen Wang, RCEF Consultant Laxian Hu, and three teachers from partner school Xiaochao Elementary College met for their third Teaching Research Meeting of the semester.  

At the start of fall term, these five rural educators developed this professional development group to advertise various reading activities at Xiaochao Elementary School, ranging from " Understand Alouds" to start the day, to sustained silent reading mid-day, to Reading through Classes throughout the week.

Officials and Teachers Visit Xiaochao Primary School

On April eleven, 2013, the Yongji Education Agency organized teachers from all over the county to visit RCEF partner school Xiaochao Elementary School and observe the Reading classes and library-related activities that RCEF and Xiaochao teachers allow us.  

RCEF Rural Education Innovator Yanzhen Wang and two RCEF-trained Reading educators at Xiaochao School, Xiaolei Ren and Yuqing Ji, taught 3 demonstration Reading Classes and the 6th grade students also performed the play.
